Ford returns to Chicago to celebrate its past and look to the future with the 2013 Shelby GT500 convertible.
Friends of Carroll Shelby, including Ford Motor Company, Shelby American, Ford Racing and many others have built a special tribute 2013 Shelby GT500 Cobra. Ford is also announcing a renamed road in Dearborn, Mich., at the Product Development Center as a tribute to the late Carroll Shelby.
The Ford Shelby GT500 kicks performance up a few notches for 2011, with an all-new aluminum-block engine that produces 550 horsepower and 510 ft.-lb. of torque. Fuel economy also is improved due to a lighter engine and aerodynamic enhancements.
Jim and Stacy are 281 Motorsports newest customers. I met them a few months ago as they came referred to us from several Team Shelby members. They arrived late last night from Shelby Auto’s in Las Vegas where they picked up there car which happens to be the very first car sold to the public, #4. #1 was a Prototype sold at Barrett Jackson, #2 is owned by Carroll Shelby, #3 is owned by Don Prudhomme and #4 is now in possession of Jim and Stacy from Idaho.
Ford and Shelby Automobiles are at it again, this time in celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500KR. To be unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, the 2008 Shelby GT500KR-the most powerful Mustang to date-will once again mark Mustang as ‘King of the Road.’
