Fan Appreciation – Matt Vnuk

Here at we like to take a moment every once and awhile to appreciate our fans because without them CoolFords wouldn’t even exist. Today we would like to appreciate Matt Vnuk of Champlin, Minnesota.

(CF) – Please tell us something about yourself.

(Matt) – I currenty reside in Champlin, Minnesota about 20 minutes north of the Twin Cities. I work too much. I am married to my wife Kari and have a 4 year old son named Kelly, which I might add is Ford nut too! That kid can pick out a Mustang in traffic like none other, and not just the new ones I’m talking 60’s to current models. I’m 30 years old, well almost 31 my birthday is this Saturday.

I grew up here in MN and enjoy the hell out of this state, well not the snow so much, but I do enjoy ice fishing with my son and father. It’s a great place to grow up, we have the “Back to the 50’s” car show at the Minnesota State Fair every year which is HUGE; it’s one of the biggest car shows in the upper midwest. Then we have Brainerd International Raceway where we have “Show’N’GO” and “Powercruise”.

I love car shows, seeing all those cars and the imagination that others have and the ideas they come up with in modifying their vehicles. I hope my son has a passion for this stuff like his dad does, I can’t wait to get him into buiding something someday.

(CF) – When did you fall in love with Ford?

(Matt) – My addiction to Fords was back in 1997 when I saw a 1993 Mustang Cobra, bright Red with a whistle coming from out under the hood. it was absolutely beautiful. I’ve never forgotten the Cobra leaving the stop light, permanently ingrained into my memory.I’d have to say that’s the Ford I fell in love with. My second is the Ford Taurus SHO, I saw a Blue one while working at my father’s Philips 66 Station. I remember the big Yamaha banner across the top of the windshield and seeing him shift through gears, I thought to myself, wow that’s a manual! So, the search began.

(CF) – What are you favorite Fords?

(Matt) – My Favorite Fords are the Fox Body Mustangs 88-93 with the 5.0 HO and the new Boss 302 Laguna Seca Eddition. The Ford Taurus SHO and SVT Lightning come in second and third.

(CF) – What do you own now?

(Matt) – I currently own a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria P71 “Police Intercepter”. It’s a great vehicle because it has power and owns the road. People fear me when they see the black honeycomb grill coming up behind them. Driving in the hammer lane the traffic parts like the Red Sea when they see me coming.

(CF) – Have you done any modifications?

(Matt) – I currently do not have any mods on the Vic but have a dream of supercharging it, putting long tube headers and full cat-back exhaust. Messing with the gears, maybe some 3.73’s and upgrading the transmission.

(CF) – Which car clubs or forums do you belong to?

(Matt) – I’m on, and of course

(CF) – If money wasn’t an issue, which Ford would you buy?

(Matt) – If money wasn’t an issue, I would buy a brand new GT500 Mustang with every available option. I’d love to have a Super Snake in my stable, that would be my dream car, which I forgot to add to my list of favorites.
