(Detroit, Mi) – Meguiar’s Autorama 2012 in Cobo Hall was held February 24-26, 2012. One of Detroit’s largest Automotive events, showing off custom hot rods from local Detroit garages to national icons. These events are held nation wide with this year being the 60th anniversary of the tour.
This show always turns out to be a major success to the city of Detroit. COBO Hall is filled from end-to-end with show cars. As the day progress, its packed shoulder to should as you walk the showroom floor.
Fortunately, I was able to get a sneak peak before the doors open to the public to bring you some of the hottest cars there. I was able to make it to the Friday and Saturday showing. Among those days I was able to catch a glimpse of Deena Cortese from MTV’s Jersey Shore and WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio. Other celeberties included: Billy Bretherton from “Billy the Exterminator,” Spongebob Squarepants, Zendaya Coleman “Rocky” from Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up” and Austin “Chumlee” Russell from the TV show Pawn Stars.
Not only are there cars and celebrities but there are sections for auctions, car sales and crafting. Artist have specified table to create and paint pieces of artwork ranging from posters to oil cans to metal fenders. The art work is later sold in the auctions.
Heading to the basement of COBO Hall is where you’ll find the true hot rods of the underground world. These are the rides that looks like they were built in the garage of hell. Other rides down here might seem like they were rotting in a garage barn for 50 years but they are fully functional. Detail is what sets these car apart.
