Matt C. Filkins of Grosse Ile, Michigan, and his team (MF Motorsports) will take part in the MotorCity Gumball Rally this fall on behalf of Lyme Earth, an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for Lyme Disease.
Filkins’ sister suffers from Lyme Disease, so it is a cause very close to his heart. His team is currently seeking sponsorships and other tax deductible donations, all of which will go directly to the non-profit organization to assist in educating and providing resources to those who suffer from tick-borne diseases.
The MotorCity Gumball Rally will begin the morning of September 22, 2012 in Downtown Detroit. Participants will travel through the suburbs and eventually finish day one at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in the Traverse City area. After finishing the first leg, participants will head back down to Cauley Performance Automotive in West Bloomfield for a custom car show.
Filkins’ car for the rally is a triple black 2011 Mustang GT Convertible. Modifications include: Ford Racing Performance Calibration with High Flow K&N Air Filter, Borla ATAK Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System, MRT Hood Struts, tinted windows and lights by Notorious Tintz, and detailing by AutoLavish.
Filkins graduated from Ohio Northern University with a BSBA in Business Management. He also attended the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, and races in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the National Auto Sport Association (NASA).
Along with CoolFords.com, the team’s official media sponsor, Filkins hopes to gain interest in this cause and charity. He is willing to create a specific marketing plan to fit the needs of corporate sponsors for his team, and will accept personal donations as well. Those interested in donating to the team and Lyme Earth should contact Filkins at 734.341.3877 or [email protected]
